How do I add a listing?

There are two types of listings on our directory:  People and Business.  The People listing will become your primary account.  You may add your business listing after your People listing is posted.  You will then be able to maintain both accounts with one password. 

To create a People listing, select the 'register' button at the top right section of the home page. Follow instructions for steps 1, 2 and 3 of the registration process:

Step 1: Register

  1. Enter your information in the appropriate fields. 
  2. Enter your email address (this is required; you may select the privacy option to keep your email private from public view). 
  3. Read the Assertion of Identity and Agreement at the bottom of the page and select the appropriate boxes.
  4. Select the 'Register' button.

Step 2:  Verification

  1. Check your email for our verification email. 
  2. Click on the hyperlink to confirm your registration.  The hyperlink will take you directly to our site.
    NOTE: if your email does not have an active hyperlink, highlight the link and copy and paste it to your browser.  Be sure to highlight the text only; do not leave any space between the text and highlighted area.

Step 3: Complete

  1. Review the information in your listing. 
  2. Check your email for our welcome message and temporary password.  Use this password to access your account and update your information whenever necessary.  You may also reset your password to one that is easier to remember.

Step 4:  Add A Business Listing (Optional)

  1. Sign in to your People Listing and select 'Add your business listing'.
  2. Enter your business or organization information in the appropriate fields. 
  3. Enter your business or organization email address (this is required).
  4. Read the Assertion of Identity and Agreement at the bottom of the page and select the appropriate boxes.
  5. Select the 'Register' button.
  6. Select up to five business categories that best describe your business and the services you provide.
  7. Select the 'Submit' button.
How do I edit my listing?

Editing your own listing has never been more convenient.  You have full control over the content you provide on our directory. DeafWorld.com lets you update your listing independently, at any time.

To make changes to your listing, simply sign in with your password. Select 'Update/Edit Your People Listing' or 'Update/Edit Your Business Listing'. Enter your changes into the appropriate fields on the form. When you are finished, press the 'Update' button to save your changes.

Do I have control over my information in your website?

Yes.  You have the power to maintain your own information in our website.  This is the only online listing of its kind to provide this type of service.  You may use your password to update your people and/or business listing whenever you change your email address, pager address, website address, phone number, screen name, etc. 

Please note, however, that DeafWorld.com reserves the right to edit, move or delete any information or language that is inappropriate at our discretion.  For more information, please read our Terms of Service.

How do I set my own password?

Your temporary password will be sent through our Welcome email after you are officially registered on our site. Use the temporary password to access your account. Scroll down to the bottom of the form to the fields for 'set password' and 'confirm password'. Enter your new password, reenter again to confirm, and save by pressing the 'Update' button.

How do I remove my people listing?

To remove your listing, sign in with your password. Select 'Remove Your People Listing.'

Can I add my business listing to the directory without a People listing?

No. In order to add a business listing to our directory, you must set up a people listing first.  This will also serve as your ID account for your business listing. Your primary account is the People Listing and all other information added after that goes under your people listing/password.  You will use the same password to access your people and business listing.

Why do I keep getting an error when I sign in?

If you receive an error message stating that your Email/Username is incorrect, it is likely that you have a typo in your email address or password. Please re-enter your email address and password, making sure you are entering the email address exactly as you did when registering. If you continue to receive the error message, press "Forgot your password?" to get your temporary password. 

You may also reset your password to one that is easier to remember.  This can be done by selecting the 'Update/Edit Your People Listing' button.  The fields for changing and confirming your password can be found at the bottom of your People Listing account page.

Where does DeafWorld.com get its information?

Our data comes directly from the people and businesses who register on our directory. We do not copy or purchase information from other sources. People and business listing information originates from individuals who decide to register on our site, with their knowledge.

Will I receive unsolicited e-mail after I register?

No. If you have opted-out to receive special offers and exclusive promotional materials, we will not send third-party information to you via email. However, we will send you information about new changes with our services that may impact your account whether you opt-out or not. 

What is the message relay service?

The message relay service makes it possible for you to keep your email address private. If a third party wishes to get in touch with you, they may contact you through DeafWorld.com, but they will not have access to your email address until you respond to their message.  To use the message relay service, select the privacy button to conceal your email address from public view.  Your email address on the directory will be shown as "Send Email@DeafWorld.com".

Will you sell or share my information?

No. Your privacy is very important to us and your information will not be sold or given to anyone without your knowledge and consent. For more information, please read our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

Can I download listings from your site to create mailing lists?

No. The information on our site is copyrighted and cannot be used for list generation purposes. For more information, please read our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

Whats the difference between an RSS feed and subscribing news via email?

Simple!  With an RSS feed, you receive multiple news items a day as new articles are posted on the website.  All the information you receive is done in real time which helps you stay up to date with the latest news.

With an e-mail subscription, you will receive only one email from DeafWorld per day at a scheduled time with a batch of all the news postings and announcements for the recent day.  If you prefer the convenience of reading news and events in one place at a predictable time everyday, then this option is for you.

How do I add a job posting?

Adding a job posting is simple.  Register for a People account and then set up a Business account (see steps 1 through 4 above on how to add a listing).  Once your business account is set, you will have access to a link of 'tasks' including 'post a job'.  When you access the job posting page, enter all the necessary information in the required fields.  Before you check out, confirm that all the information is correct and submit it for public viewing.  Job postings are FREE until July 31, 2007.  If you need further assistance, contact us at info@deafworld.com.

Effective August 1, 2007, job postings will be $50 each per month.
