Publish Your News Content on DeafWorld

DeafWorld offers you a cost-effective way to develop a daily relationship with readers, extend your audience, and attract more users to your site. Deafworld has a RSS (Really Simple Syndication) service to gather news and information from around the world. If you have RSS, submit your RSS Feed to DeafWorld’s RSS database.

DeafWorld prefers RSS 2.0 but we support all existing versions (.91 and 2.0). Before you submit your RSS feed to DeafWorld:

  • Choose one RSS format.
  • Validate your RSS feed before you submit. You can test your feed through a FEED Validator to make sure your feed is properly formed.
  • Adhere to DeafWorld’s news posting guidelines and restrictions – see below.
  • Sign in to DeafWorld using your ID in order to add your feed to the DeafWorld RSS Database.

Posting Guidelines

News Type – DeafWorld prefers deaf and hard of hearing-related news. Our audience is comprised of deaf and hard of hearing groups, including sign language users, oral deaf, late deaf, children of deaf adults (CODA), and interpreters.  Therefore, we are mainly interested in articles that benefit the deaf and hard of hearing community.

Language – all news postings must be in English.

News Content – please post newsworthy entries only.  Before you post your article, ask if the article will capture attention. That is to say, does it look like a headline in a newspaper or magazine article?

Single Title Line – create titles in a single line. Do not enter a whole paragraph to the title field.

Proper Case – do not use all UPPERCASE other than for acronyms.

A Stable URL – Stick with one URL for your feed.  Changing URLs creates a difficult experience for existing subscribers. Changing URLs also causes confusion for new subscribers by creating duplicate entries in our RSS database.

Published Date – entries will be posted according to the actual publish date.  For example, if you submit an article on August 3 that was originally published on August 1, the article will be posted under the date of August 1.

Posting Restrictions

The following postings are not acceptable:

  • Advertisements disguised as news.
  • Duplicate entries or reposting entries to stay on top of the news list.
  • Requiring users to register on your site before they can read the article.
  • Nudity, pornography, profanity, illegal drugs, or anything that is illegal under United States law.
  • Materials that is unlawful, abusive, defamatory, invasive of another’s privacy, or obscene to a reasonable person.

Note: We reserve the right to not to accept news that is not appropriate or not in compliance with the guidelines listed above.
